about ella studio

Ella Studio is the dream-in-progress of graphic designer Lisa Delu Vavrick.

In 1998, Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA. Before starting Ella Studio, Lisa worked as a professional Graphic Designer, most notably serving as Senior Graphic Designer for American Eagle Outfitters.

Lisa went to work for herself in 2002, specializing in custom wedding invitation design. Many wedding invitations later, in July 2006, Lisa refocused her love of design, paper and letterpress printing to form Ella Studio. She picked up her first store account that same month, and the business has been off and running since.

Featuring Lisa's original designs, Ella Studio offers witty, stylish stationery printed through the centuries-old craft of letterpress.

Lisa prints, finishes and packages each piece by hand. Printing is done on a vintage hand-operated printing press.

Ella Studio is located in Pittsburgh, PA.

A big shout-out goes to Lisa from Sapling Press / Toast Letterpress for teaching me how to print and for generously sharing her studio. Thanks, Lisa!

why ella?

Ella Studio is lovingly named after my great-grandmother. Though I never got to meet her, I know from stories and pictures that she was not only a hardworking woman, she also knew how to have fun. She found the humor in every situation and wasn't afraid to laugh out loud. In fact, I bet she'd be laughing out loud right now if she saw my cards!
